Sensual and woody, Number one is a perfume by Lauren Stone of ‘The Real housewives of Cheshire’ fame, launched in 2016 for both men and women. Inspired by Lauren’s passion for fragrances that developed from spending hours observing her grandmother’s antique fragrance collection, this fragrance is her way of reminiscing about those golden days.

This rich spicy fragrance opens with zesty citrus from top notes Lemon and lemon peel radiating through the sweetness of the fruity accord slowly melting into the complex heart notes of spicy ginger and saffron with floral scents of rose and lavender. The dry down is creamy and warm with woods notes of Oud, Musk, Amber, Sandalwood and Cedarwood.

My Experience with this fragrance:

As promised, the first whiff of zesty citrus is powerful and sultrily combines with the sweet fruit accord before the heart notes warm up your senses with spicy ginger and saffron, a subtle floral note brought in by the rose and lavender before drying down to creamy warmth. The dry down, I feel personally gives the fragrance just the woody smokiness required to bring the fragrance back to the earth.

Packaging: Even the bottle seems to say high end, with its matt black glad bottle topped with a classic golden cap. The bottle is covered with a label that has her name and the perfume’s name in golden font with a distinctive golden flower on it which Lauren Stone also sports on her back as a tattoo.

It is definitely the kind of fragrance that you can warm up your senses on a winter evening with its spicy woody notes combined with citrusy sweetness.

Sillage and Longevity:

The sillage is enormous and but has a moderate longevity, lasting about 5-6 hours on my skin.

Likes:

1) Its rare combination of strong woody notes with lighter citrusy ones, drawing a lot of complements.

2) Classy packaging which seems very personal as well as it contains her flower tattoo on it

3) Great sillage with those around me picking up on the scent even after hours of applying it.

4) Strikes the perfect balance for it to be a unisex fragrance which is quite rare.

Dislikes:

1) The lovely scent only lasts for 6 hours at most which is disappointing because of the hype around it.

2) On the expensive side as it is a designer perfume.

Overall:

Lauren Stone’s Number one does stand up to its hype with the high end packaging, perfect harmony of contrasting notes and touch of glamour that it all brings together to the wearer. However, its average longevity was disappointing and hefty designer price tag may give you second thoughts on purchasing this one of a kind fragrance.
